@moth Nowadays I think most politics is a niche culture war on the internet or among the political elite though. Most people don't realize or care about the cultural power imageboards wielded as part of the 2016 election. Politics is something that happens to most people and I think most of them are.. not happy about it, but complacent with it.

@moth I love this anecdote but I'm afraid I'm as lost as her about math and medicalization.

As far as it relates to fascism though, leftist thought on the internet is a niche culture war that most people don't even realize is happening. Common usage of the word fascism doesn't exist.

@moth They get labelled right wing instead of authoritarian left wing pretty much entirely for their opinions on race and jews. Of course, those opinions aren't ubiquitous and some communists hold them too...
I mean the whole left/right dichotomy falls apart if you look too hard anyway.

@rats Oh no, it's not you or your posting style really. It's a function of the network we're communicating on and the general culture of the internet.

I saw her on your goodreads page. She looks very cool, I was thinking of checking her out. I feel the same way. I like Quaker thinkers but Christianity is generally something I have a complex relationship with.
Yeah we should talk more about it. I'm logging off for the night but some time for sure!

@rats People just need to chill the fuck out sometimes. It's hard to do on the internet because every conversation moves so fast. There's like an assumption that you need to move that fast and keep up with everything too, it's like an implicit common standard. I sent my last post while on a bike ride and when I came home and looked at your replies I almost instinctively apologized for the time delay in my response!

I'm almost done with A Common Faith Faith by John Dewey, it's really good! I've been away from Catholicism for a long time (since childhood, really) and I'm enjoying my return to Christian philosophy.

Is there a good reason that I just don't understand for go's + operator refusing to do int+string?
It's really annoying.

this regexp library provides 16 methods, which can be matched with the following regex

Please stop. I just want to know how to match a string I don't need to regex match your stupid method names.

@rats @io > rust effectively needs to be distributed in binary form

Compiling rustc sucks so much oh my fucking god I will never stop talking about how much it sucks.

Also reminder that there is no rust spec so while projects like rust-gcc could fix the compiler situation.. What are they targeting? How could a newcomer implement a rust compiler in a sane way?
